Financial crime, especially that emanating from the activities of transnational organised crime groups, can only be about disruption and displacement. An expectation that one can arrest their way out of such a problem in modern times is mere fantasy. I say this because; there are too many volunteers, professional and not, complicit and not, prepared to participate. Further, the level of organised crime sophistication is increasing exponentially and their appetite to infiltrate normal business supply lines to illegally generate profit is insatiable. Their capacity to diversify into new areas of criminal activity involving legitimate, counterfeit and fictitious products and services whilst generating huge profits, is very apparent. The capability and capacity of business to be proactive in disrupting and displacing this emerging activity is not as apparent.
